JACK LEE
Jack Lee came into the district before the 1914 war and enlisted during its early stages. On his return, the Soldiers' Settlement Board allotted him the quarter section where Ernie's Beach is presently situated. He built a nice, snug little cabin near the lakeshore. The evening it was completed he paid a visit to the Granger's and spent the night there rather than walking home in the dark. Next morning he went home only to find his cabin burned to the ground. It was never known how the fire started, as he said he never started a fire in the stove and there seemed to be no sign of one having been set outside. Discouraged, he left the district, and it is not remembered where he went.
